The basics, which are almost everything
Clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth; no abrasives and no solvents that attack the finish. Wipe up spills immediately, especially on kitchen tops and bathroom units.
Avoid prolonged contact with water and direct heat on the surface: a hot pot set on a worktop leaves a mark that's no longer a cleaning issue, it's a refinishing one.
Humidity and sun in the peninsula
Wood is a living material: it moves with humidity changes, and here those swings are pronounced. Over time a door or drawer may shift slightly; that's normal and is corrected with an adjustment, not a major repair.
Direct sun acts too: it can shift the wood's tone over the years. That's not a finish defect, it's the material's natural behaviour.
Finishes that get renewed
Oil-finished pieces keep a natural touch that respects the grain, but need periodic renewal. Exterior pieces also need their moisture and pest protection kept current.
Renewing on time is always cheaper than recovering a damaged piece.
What we do after handover
After handover we return to resolve the details noted in the final walkthrough. Later, if a door or drawer shifts with normal use, or a piece of hardware stops working, we review it and adjust or replace it. We aim to reply the same day and schedule the visit within the same week.
Work involving removal, refinishing or refabrication is quoted separately. One important clarification: we don't maintain, repair or modify carpentry built by others, because we can't stand behind materials and construction systems we didn't control.
