The workshop
Zoreda Taller de Madera
We design and build bespoke carpentry for residences and architectural projects, caring for every decision from material selection to installation.
A woodworking shop for bespoke carpentry
More than nine years taught us to solve before we build
Zoreda Taller de Madera is a carpentry workshop in Mérida, Yucatán, dedicated to the design, fabrication and installation of bespoke furniture and woodwork. For more than nine years we have developed projects for private clients, architects, interior designers, construction firms and developers. We do not work from a catalogue: every piece begins with a space, a use, measurements and a specific need.
Over the years we learned that many of a project's problems are solved before fabrication. That is why we review measurements, levels, site conditions, access routes, installations, materials, hardware, finishes and how the piece will be used. If we detect that a solution could work better, we discuss it with the client and propose alternatives rather than automatically executing what appears in a reference. The final decision belongs to the client; our job is to contribute criteria so the project reaches the workshop better resolved.
We work mainly with solid wood and with plywood or edge-glued panel solutions made from the species we handle, including tzalam, oak, parota, poplar, walnut, rosewood, cedar and cumarú. We do not use MDF, melamine, laminate or WPC. The choice of wood depends on use, location, exposure, expected maintenance, budget and the desired result. Finishes are also defined for each project: we prepare physical samples on the same wood species and adjust tone, sheen, texture and appearance before approving them for fabrication.
For us, quality is not just an adjective. It is verified in grain continuity, clean joints, well-finished edges, structural strength, levelling, squareness, the opening and closing of doors and drawers, fixings and the operation of the hardware. During fabrication the design team follows the project, and before moving the pieces we carry out a general review to catch details that are better resolved in the workshop than on site.
We work actively in Yucatán, Quintana Roo and Campeche, from individual pieces to full carpentry for residences, real estate developments, apartment towers, commercial projects, hotels and hospitality spaces. Our team also handles on-site assembly and adjustments. And once installation is complete, we maintain after-sales service on the carpentry we build to review adjustments, operation and any later needs.
Zoreda does not simply seek to deliver a piece of furniture. We want every project to be well thought out before it enters the workshop, well executed during fabrication and correctly installed so it works the way the client needs and keeps making sense over time.

What defines us
What we never trade away, even when the budget must adjust
Wood preparation
We take care of structure, supports, joints and fixings so every piece has the strength and stability it needs.
Properly applied finishes
We check tone, uniformity, edges, joints, fills and touch-ups so the finish is fully resolved before installation.
Stability and levelling
Doors and drawers must end up aligned, level and square, with correct opening and closing.
Hardware that works
We choose it according to use, strength, type of closure, durability, aesthetics and comfort for the client.
Private clients & professionals
Families, architects, interior designers and developers
With private clients we can start from an idea, a reference or some measurements. With architects and interior designers we work from more defined projects and coordinate drawings, installations and approvals. In both cases, the furniture is redrawn and approved before fabrication.
Where we work
Yucatán, Quintana Roo and Campeche
In these three states we coordinate surveying, fabrication, transport and installation with our own team. Outside them we evaluate each project according to its volume, logistics and type of piece.
How we work
From idea to aftercare
01
Quotation
Using measurements or drawings, photographs and references we prepare a tailored proposal.
02
Site survey
We measure on site and check levels, plumb, services, access and possible clashes.
03
Design & samples
We develop the furniture drawings and physical finish samples for approval.
04
Fabrication
The design team follows the project and we review the pieces before moving them to site.
05
Installation & aftercare
We assemble, adjust and review on site. Afterwards we attend to details that require follow-up.

Scope of service
What we do and what we'd rather not take on
- We do not intervene in carpentry built by third parties: we cannot stand behind materials, joints or construction systems we do not know.
- We do not accept installation-only jobs. We prefer to keep control of the complete process.
- We do not use MDF, melamine, laminate or WPC. We work mainly in solid wood, plywood and edge-glued panels.
- We do take on residential, commercial, hotel and hospitality projects with bespoke furniture and carpentry.

How we work
Questions about how we work
Workshop criteria, quality checks and follow-up after handover.
No. Every project is developed around the measurements, the space, the materials, the function and the client's specific needs. We can start from an idea or a reference, but the furniture is developed specifically for each project.
It means that beyond looking well finished, it works properly, is stable, durable and cared for in its details. We review both the visible execution and how the piece functions and should hold up over time.
We are especially careful with wood preparation, finishes, the stability and levelling of the furniture, and the hardware needed for doors and drawers to work properly. When costs have to come down we would rather revisit materials, accessories or design details than compromise structure, function or durability.
We talk it through with the client and propose an alternative. If a wood, solution or design detail may not suit the use, maintenance, site conditions or budget, we would rather explain it before fabricating.
The design team follows the piece through fabrication. When it comes out of the finishing process, it is assembled in the workshop so we can review proportions, alignment, finish and operation before moving it to site.
We continue to attend to needs related to the carpentry we built. We can review door or drawer adjustments, hardware and other operating issues, and separately assess maintenance, touch-ups, restoration or modifications that involve additional work.
